Nicaragua

Last weekend, we went to Nicaragua to visit our friends, Chris and Krista. We used to live next door to them in San Francisco. They now work outside of Managua. They have pretty amazing ministries among the Nicaraguans. One of the most impacting parts of their ministry we witnessed was at the city dump. There is a large community of people who live in the dump and scavenge the trash for any materials they might be able to sell. Here is a pic of the scavengers.

With any community there are families and children. As the families are extremely poor, the babies and children are almost all malnourished. Chris and Krista and Krista's parents (also missionaries down there) spend time feeding the babies to ensure that the children will at least have a decent start to life and have a greater chance of surviving. Here is a family who lives in the dump.

We also had some fun going to a cave near a volcano. Bats flew around our head for a bit. The last night we enjoyed a good old American movie at the "VIP" theater. This was the most posh theater I have ever encountered. We enjoyed The Sentinel each in our own full size leather recliners. For more pics of our trip, click on Our Photos on the left.
